MasterCard (ticker symbol: MA) just might make an interesting long-term investment. Along with its other major competitors American Express (AXP), Visa (V), and Discover (DFS), MasterCard is at a very interesting crossroad now in global commerce. Not only has the move away from cash continued in the US and Europe, but emerging and developing markets are developing their credit markets with the rise of a new middle class in their societies.
