Baby Boomer Retirement: The Bankrate List of Worst States for Retirement: This week I ran across an interesting news story from Bankrate, Inc., entitled "10 Worst States to Live in During Retirement." Their list included many states that have been considered great places to retire by reputable retirement advisors such as the editors of CNN Money, AARP and Kiplingers.
The difference of opinion astounded me, until I began to look at the Bankrate criteria carefully. One writer's statistics on poverty rates among retirees can translate into another writer's opinion of affordable places to live.
